We Are The Champions
The British Cheese Awards is the biggest event in the cheese calendar, and Westcountry makers always do well. This box is inspired by some big winners from the 2010 awards.
The cheddar field is massively competitive, but we weren't at all surprised when Jamie Montgomery's Cheddar scooped 'Best Cheddar' in 2010 for his hugely respected cheese made in a totally traditional way. We were also delighted to see 'Best Goats' Cheese' go to Phil Rainbow and team at Somerset Cheese Company for their Pennard Vale. That's two big winners from the same part of Somerset.
'Cheese Person of the Year 2010' was Catherine Mead, whose Cornish Yarg has been an amazing success story over 25 years or so. Catherine's a tireless promoter of farming, cheese, and local food. FInally, Cornish Country Larder - based near Newquay - scooped 'Best Soft White' with a cheese called Duchy Organic Brie. This is an organic Cornish brie which they package up exclusively for Waitrose. Now obviously we can't bring you that ... but here's their Organic Cornish Brie.
Your box should contain around 1.2kg of cheese.
